Boston and New England Cruise - 13 days from October 3rd to 15/2016.....

On Thursday for breakfast, we went to Capital Coffee House only two blocks from the hotel.   From now on, we always ate breakfast there – busy, very reasonable and the coffee was good.

Then back to the hotel and took the courtesy car to Newbury Street for a little shopping (Tip $5).   After shopping, we took a cab ($12) to the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum - senior admission $12, and free on your birthday.

We had lunch at the museum - short ribs with pasta and vegetables ($30) and then toured the museum.   This was the private residence of Isabella Gardner, and is based on a Venetian palazzo.   There is a grand staircase, but also an elevator.  Very interesting….

Then we took another cab ($12) to the Boston Public Gardens, walked through them to the Boston Commons, and then on to the New State Capitol, with the gold dome.  We toured inside  - a very impressive building with another grand staircase.

Then we walked back to the hotel (3 blocks) for a rest.   At 4:15, we took the courtesy car (Tip $5) to the AMC Lowes Theatre, and saw Deep Water Horizon at the Imax ($17.50) - good movie.

From the theatre, we took a cab ($12) to the Union Oyster House.  The restaurant was so busy that we had to wait for our reservation at 8 pm, so we joined the many people walking around, and also went to their Gift store.
I had scrod and a special Samuel Adams beer ($35) - very good.   The restaurant is the oldest, continually running restaurant in the United States, and is now a National Historic Landmark.  Pictures of all 16 of the historical sights are mounted on the walls.

Then a cab back to the hotel ($10) - another nice day in Boston.
